MINNESOTA GIRL FOUND DEAD / POISON WATER

An interconnected universe featuring three titular characters, Sibuna Carrol, Annabelle Martin, and Hue Enyeart.

MINNESOTA GIRL FOUND DEAD is set in Windom, Minnesota.  Sibuna and Annabelle both got a vaccine when they were young that was a test on the market for the flu.  It was managed by a place called the Jaime Clinic that primarily works in medicine, their secondary mission being the attempt to find a cure for the condition of human life, trying to find a medical miracle that induces immortality.  What did they get instead?  Sentient zombie children who have their cognizant thought intact but unfortunately they are rotting from the inside out.  The vaccine preserved the limbic system of their brains post-mortem, allowing for them to return to life with their humanity intact--  it just doesn't preserve anything else.
 

The story follows Sibuna and Annabelle who are thrust into a new lease of life, with complications from their different upbringings causing distress.  They are forced to confront the unfortunate reality that while they are still "normal" with their preservation of their humanity, the Jaime Clinic does not see them as that.  Rather, they see them as monsters.

POISON WATER is set in White Pine County, Nevada.  Hue Enyeart is the child of famous cult leader Eden Enyeart, who leads Reservoir Alcatraz, dedicated to the idea that the government has placed mind control into the water produced across the planet and aims to ensure that people see the light.  The story follows unreliable narrator Hue, his battle with his cult leader father Eden, and his action to document the goings on of his town, with fellow cult members constantly committing suicide, while dealing with regular teenage pressure and unresolved trauma when being raised by a man as unstable as his father.  With nobody in his life who just makes sense, Hughbert is faced with the challenge to expose the filthy underbelly of his town, and show the world just what horrors he faces.  The only problem being– nobody takes it seriously until they see it for themselves, and when they do, it feels like a massive invasion of privacy, and shows just how indoctrinated the town can make even those who work against the grain.

The stories eventually unite in Portland, Oregon, upon Sibuna and Annabelle's escape from the Jaime Clinic, and Hue's relocation by Child Protection Services.
